I took these Samsonite Centric Expandable Hardside Luggage with Spinner Wheels on a plane trip with my family and just got back a few days ago. They performed amazingly well, and to my surprise, survived the trip (in which we had connected flights on the way up and on the way back) literally without a scratch on them. Not one scuff, not one scratch. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.I'm used to getting the softer shell Samsonite luggage cases, but when I saw this set, I knew we needed it pronto! I was happy that I got to test them out shortly after receiving them, too.Despite having hard shells, I was surprised at how fairly lightweight they were. The larger one has a mesh partition you can use to separate the two halves, and this came in really handy for me. I was able to fit both my younger son's clothing AND mine in that one (roughly 5-6 days worth of summer clothing, plus several swimsuits, etc. each!), with the aid of some packing cubes I had, and by rolling the shirts and using the expander on the case. The last time I tried that in our bigger Samsonite soft shell case, we went over the 50 lb weight limit and had to shuffle things around to avoid extra luggage fees for our checked luggage. THIS time, even though I actually had a little MORE clothing in the larger one in this set than the last time, the bag weighed roughly 45 lbs (well within the limit). WOW! This means that I could pack more and the hard shell weighed less than the standard soft shell one we had (that was actually a little larger in dimension). The smaller case in this set also holds a fair amount of items and falls within the appropriate dimensions as a carry-on for airplane travel. I used that one for "overflow" items (extra shoes and such) for my carry-on.Throughout the trip, we were in a hurry going through airports and slinging these cases around. The smaller one got hauled through airports and shoved in the overhead compartment of 4 airplanes, banged into things, etc. The larger one got checked and as you know, checked luggage always gets thrown around on the ramp and turnstyles, etc. It's rare that we don't end up with scuffed or scratched luggage whenever we travel, but neither of these cases look like anything happened to them at all. I couldn't find any scratches or scuffs at all when we got back home, and I got down on my hands and knees to inspect them. If there are any scratches, I sure couldn't see them with my naked eye up close. This is a first for us, especially with BOTH pieces of luggage escaping unscathed. The 360 degree spinner wheels are amazing. My kids had fun spinning these round and round during various times of waiting in lines, etc., but the part I was thrilled about was the ease of which I could quickly trot through airports with them and weave my way nimbly around people without missing a beat at all. Most wheel-away luggage items just go forward and backwards with minimal flexibility in turning other directions, but these wheels will turn and swivel in any direction smoothly and effortlessly. My older son had another wheel-away luggage item that, although very nice, had the standard forward/backward wheels, and it was always klunking and wobbling around when we needed to make turns, etc. whereas these moved in any direction immediately, like a dream. It took very little effort to zoom through airports with them. Both cases come with the security lock where you can set a code and lock your zippers securely. This helped immensely during our trip, as I didn't have to worry about the zippers coming undone and something flopping open.Overall, these are the nicest pieces of luggage I have ever owned, just from the fact that the hard shell cases seemed practically indestructible (I know nothing is indestructible, but these are the most durable I have ever used), were expandable, and I was able to fit a shocking amount of items in them considering their size. Not only that, the wheels on them were super responsive and made it SO easy to steer the cases around in any direction at the drop of a hat.Another item to note is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color of the cases. The blue is kind of a gunmetal-ish or slate blue, and it's a subdued color that is very unisex and looks really, really nice. In addition, they were unique enough in color for me to easily pick it out when we went to baggage claim for our checked luggage. They look really pretty...for luggage, that is. ;)Overall, this is hands-down my favorite set of luggage, and in my opinion, worth every.single.penny. I'm probably going to buy more of them soon, as we travel a lot as a family, and these just make life so much darn easier. Two thumbs up - I'd give them three thumbs, if I could! I cannot recommend these highly enough to do them justice.
